Youth and Children's Work
The aim of this module is to familiarize students with the principles of Christian youth and children's work. To help students think through the place of children in the Kingdom of God and the local church, and thereby formulate suitable strategies for teaching and encouraging under 18s. To help students develop good communication skills with children and young people and develop other relevant skills such as: team work, liaising with parents and age-appropriate pastoral care
Students engage with the study material provided over a period of 10 weeks and then undertake a 2-week period of independent study.

- Theology of youth and children's work
- The place of children in the Kingdom of God
- The place of children in the local church
- Liaising with parents
- Developing a 0-18 strategy
- Bible-handling skills
- Communication skills
- The characteristics of a biblical youth and children's leader
- The nature of biblical truth in teaching children and young people
- Age-appropriate pastoral care
All necessary additional reading will be provided to the student as part of the study pack
Assessment
This module will be assessed by an essay, a case study and the script or tape of an age appropriate talk.
