Pastoral Care
The aim of this module is to enable students to understand the nature of pastoral care and the practical considerations in its implementation. To encourage students to grasp the biblical basis of Christian pastoral care. To compaire secular and faith-based models of pastoral care. To gain a biblical understanding of the nature of change in human beings and to analyse specific, common pastoral situations.
Students engage with the course material provided for 10 weeks and then engage in two weeks of independent study.

- The biblical understanding of sin and negative behaviour
- The biblical process of change
- Pitfalls in the pastoral relationship
- The characteristics and causes of depression
- Understanding addictive behaviours
- Understanding self esteem, guilt, anger and fear

Assessment
This module is assessed through an essay, a case study and a book review. Students may also be asked to participate in a telephone viva.
