Entry Requirements

Before embarking on either of the Certificates of Higher Education, students must have reached their 17th birthday and passed a preliminary module. A range of preliminary modules are acceptable as an entrance requirement.

Students may:

(a) Successfully complete Introduction to the Bible (from the Moore College course) or Understanding the Bible (from the Learn2Lead course) - both available from the Open Bible Institute

(b) Provide evidence of successful completion of a similar Bible overview course at another institution

Or (c) Successfully complete one of the Open Bible Institute's short courses

Introduction to the Bible

This ten-week course which takes students through an overview of the Scriptures in a way that explains its unity and coherency is the recommended access course for all prospective Cert HE students. Assessment is via a two and a half hour examination. A pass mark must be obtained before being accepted onto a Cert HE programme.

The course content is as follows:

  • The Book of Books
  • Interpreting the Bible
  • From creation to new creation
  • Israel and God's purposes
  • The promised land and God's' good purposes
  • The kingdom of David and God's purpose
  • God's purpose renewed
  • Jesus the fulfiller of God's purpose
  • The Gospel for the nations
  • Awaiting the fulfilment - the Apostles' writing

This introductory course costs either £30 (for the study guide and exam fee) or £60 (for the study guide, exam fee plus FIVE discounted background reading books that will stand you in good stead throughout your study experience).
